      The project cost was around 50 K. Achieving the highest resolution room current technology can offer means "building" a new room within your existing room. You will not use hammer and screws. You will use a series of treatments that minimize and enhance the acoustical requirements to match the usage. These chosen treatments will take up 6 - 16" in room space.

      Room tuning is a process where you place treatment types in different places to manage reflections. As the resolution of the room increases, you begin to notice the areas that are producing distortions. Rememeber that there are two main areas of distortions. There are unwanted pressures along with unwanted reflections. You place treatment types in different locations and listen for improvements. Its a step by step process over time.

      This is death by a 1,000 cuts. Every piece of gear produces a spurious reflection. There are thousands off each piece. Add all of these together you get distortion that is represnted in a smaller soundstage with less seperation and resolution.

    Isn't it easier to place the sub in your listening position... then you wander around on the floor to find the sound that works. That is where the sub goes and hopefully it is in a good spot for the room.

    • @AcousticFields
      @AcousticFields 9 дней назад

      The sub position has nothing to do with easy or difficult. The room dimensions and the SPL used within the room are the most critical variables.

    • @AcousticFields
      @AcousticFields 8 дней назад

      This is not a good start point for this process. Elevate the sub off the floor and place it on casters so it can be easility moved. Place in room center. Move in one foot increments in one direction at a time. Repeat process for another direction. Spend time listening to your music sources between sub moves. Sometimes you will know immediately, sometimes it will take a few songs. To avoid all of this, treat your room so it is pressure balanced. With a pressure balanced room, the sub will sound good anywhere within the room. To aid this tuning process, our sub platforms are on wheels. www.acousticfields.com/product/subwoofer-platform-absorber/

    • @AcousticFields

    I have 1 sub in my room being a Velodyne dd15+. My room is well treated but not over treated. I have my sub sitting on a Great Gammer riser only 150mm of the floor and would never sit my sub on the floor again. My room is dedicated and professionally done. One thing I can say is that I would pay more attention to what settings your sub is set at before calibration as it can be a big difference to your listening experience and that’s one thing no one talks about. That’s the very essence on how your sub works in with your speakers. Example is your subs low pass and high pass crossover settings before auto cal. Very few talk about this but it’s way cheaper than buying multiple subs especially at the cost of a quality sub at today’s prices. Your room is 60% of your audio dream and the rest is calibration and knowledge which you can not put money on. If there is a secret in home theatre audio then that’s it. I’ve had my dedicated room for many years and made many changes and mistakes but it’s only relevant to my room.

I have one stereo speaker two feet and the other 4 feet from there side walls and when I move over to the right side of the couch which moves me more inline with the 4-ft distant speaker, the audio sounds way more solid! I've tried to compensate by placing absorption on the first reflection of the 2 ft distant stereo speaker. It's helped, but it's not perfect. I recently just shot a sound test video. This topic is near and dear to my heart. Our Church meets in a large Sanctuary designed for a couple hundred people, average attendance now is less than 50. This alone increases the reverb time. And the solution (wrong) always seems to be turning up the volume, thereby reducing the S.I.

      We see this everyday. If people can not hear the spoken word of their faith, what are we doing? Why wasn't the room designed to support music and voice? Why is the appearance of the room more important than the sound quality. After 20 years of working in churches, we see new designs still with no budget or space for acoustics. However, there is always budget for ornamentation.

      You must match the room size to the amount of energy you will place into it. Larger piano sizes produce more energy. More energy requires a larger room and more treatment. Everything in critical listening rooms is related to energy and the frequency and amplitude of that energy,

      When you mange excess reverb, you must have a certain amount of surface area coverage on the four walls. If you can not meet the coverage requirements on the walls to meet the designed for reverb times, you must go to the ceiling.
